The first movie reviews for Zack Snyder's Justice League are already rolling out on Twitter by those who got an early view. And the reviews are GREAT!  Along with this film being entertaining, it'll definitely have people asking, "What was Walter Hamada and Geoff Johns thinking?!?!"

But there is still a lot of misunderstanding out there. Some believe the Snyder Cut is the same movie as the 2017 theatrical release with a few extra scenes added. That couldn't be further from the truth. 

The Josstice League was two hours and only included 20 minutes of Zack Snyder's footage. The Snyder Cut is twice as long (four hours) and includes ZERO minutes of Joss Whedon's footage. These are two completely different films. The tone, scenes, story, perspective, potential, and direction... very different. 

With that said, watch it with an open mind and prepare to enjoy yourself!  🙂

Zack Snyder's Justice League,[1] often referred to as the "Snyder Cut", is the upcoming director's cut of the 2017 American superhero film Justice League. It presents Justice League—the fifth film of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name—as director Zack Snyder had intended it before he left the production. The theatrical Justice League was a critical and commercial failure, leading Warner Bros. to re-evaluate the future of the DCEU and focus development on individual films.

As details surfaced about the film's troubled production and its state before Snyder stepped down, many fans expressed interest in an alternate cut more faithful to Snyder's vision. Fans and members of the cast and crew petitioned for the release of this, which they nicknamed the Snyder Cut. At the time, industry insiders regarded the release as unlikely. However, Warner Bros. decided to move ahead with it in February 2020; in May, Snyder announced that the original cut would be released as Zack Snyder's Justice League via the streaming service HBO Max. It cost around $70 million to complete the visual effects, score, and editing, with new material filmed in October 2020. The cut was originally planned to be released as both a miniseries and a four-hour film, but plans for the miniseries were scrapped by January 2021. The film is dedicated to Snyder's daughter, Autumn.

Why DC needs to stick with Zack Snyder after Justice League

Justice League shouldn’t be the end of Zack Snyder’s relationship with Warner Bros.

There’s no getting away from it: Zack Snyder is a polarising figure. Worshipped by a vocal section of the internet, his movies – Batman v Superman, Man of Steel, 300, Watchmen – have been met with a mixed critical reception, often ending up more ridiculed than revered. All it takes is a word – “Martha” – to seemingly reduce his oeuvre to grimdark ashes. But beyond his director’s cut of Justice League, Snyder shouldn’t just be an option for DC’s brave new world, he should be essential to it.

In the wake of a New York Times report that suggested six movies a year would be released revolving around everyone from Batgirl to Static Shock, there was also a mention of Snyder’s prospects of a return to the DCEU. Namely, there was none. His Justice League project, set for a March release on HBO Max, was described as a “cul-de-sac.”

But it shouldn’t be. It should, instead, be the first step in a new universe. Despite Snyder saying he has “no plans” (via ComicBook Debate) to make any more DC movies, the cinematic universe which he helped create desperately needs continuation, not closure at this juncture. That’s especially pronounced now that HBO Max is itching for a ‘killer app’ that can consistently draw the eyes of new and current subscribers.

Offering Snyder a sequel or an opportunity to carry forward his cast of characters, including Henry Cavill’s Superman, is the best way to ensure a large section of those fans stay on board. More pressingly, it provides some sorely needed connective tissue, the same that helped propel Marvel Studios into the stratosphere with its finely-tuned tapestry of overlapping comic book movies.

After all, DC’s slate is currently a scattergun approach. The Batman has no ties to The Suicide Squad, which has no ties to Shazam. The upcoming Flash movie will complicate things further by re-introducing Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader. With potentially multiple Batmen and Jokers under the same umbrella, it could cause confusion with the general audience. 

The introduction of the multiverse, admittedly, is a neat move. Its primary purpose is to allow several individual stories take place without the need for them to logically fit together. But the multiverse is also a disparate approach, that requires each of DC’s movies to start from the bottom at a time when they could be soaring. Reboots and origin stories, instead of sequels that are far-reaching and world-building, suddenly become the norm.

Marvel doesn’t have a monopoly on cinematic universes, nor does DC have to mirror that entirely, but some baked-in characters – even if it’s Snyder playing in his own sandbox with a ‘Snyder-verse’ – is crucial.

It cannot be overstated how important it is that Snyder has already done the legwork in setting up his own universe. General audiences tire of reboots – think the lukewarm response to The Amazing Spider-Man just a few years after Tobey Maguire was in the role of Peter Parker – and there are only so many times you can see the Last Son of Krypton fall into a field in Kansas. There’s a reason why Aquaman made over a billion dollars and Batman v. Superman made close to $900m – and it’s because they were each the next chapter in characters and concepts brought to life by the divisive director.

By giving Snyder carte blanche (or as close to it as Warner Bros. allows), the DCEU reclaims that semblance of a vision. Like him or loathe him, Snyder goes all-in on what he perceives to be the best choice for his universe. Whether it’s sowing the seeds for a long-term story arc through dream sequences, or presenting wholly unique on-screen takes of iconic characters with Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, these moments become ingrained in the shared consciousness of comic book movie fans. Even “Martha” lives long in the memory because it was such a wild swing. They may not always land, but they always make an impact. Put it this way: I’d rather watch a 5/10 Snyder movie than a safe, studio-approved, cookie-cutter 7/10 superhero movie.

It’s an approach that has already worked for Warner Bros, too, and it would be a mistake if it were to stray from that path. If Wonder Woman 1984 had been helmed by anyone other than Patty Jenkins, the director of the original movie, that franchise would look in jeopardy. Her presence, despite a mixed fan reaction, steadies the ship for the fast-tracked threequel in much the same way Snyder would act as the bridge between DC’s past and present.

More than anything, though, Snyder represents more than the director, more than DC’s past, and more than Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He has a unique tie to the fans; this cult of personality should be viewed as a positive one with the studio (among the rest of Hollywood) looking for a way to restore confidence in the moviegoing experience in the coming years, whether at home or in cinemas.

Ignoring the fans almost always hurts the bottom line in the long run and, whatever your opinion on his craft, Snyder gets people talking. That sort of buzz is sorely missing at present – but could help bolster DC’s popularity, just as long as they allow him to re-enter and pass the threshold of the house that Snyder built.

The problem is the DCEU is dead in the water. There is no momentum to the series but yet they still insist on making and releasing future movies like the Flash Wonder woman 3 and Aquaman 2 with no real future of a movie together. We want a payoff to these characters and Warner brothers have writers that just throw story's together and see if it works with no set up for future movies and story lines. Plus the talk of Superman reboot will through a giant wrench into the momentum we now have. If they don't continue with this version in mind and reboot or another direction it'll set your fan base and your movie sales of DC back 10-15 years because we will lose all interest in it. #RestoreTheSnyderverse


There is a lot of toxic thoughts from people supporting the Snyder version of #JusticeLeague. I understand why he wanted to be an adult R rated film but this was his vision. This version with the gore and hardcore violence is not for me and never will be. My brother asked me why was this movie R rated so his son could see it. The answer I gave him is that  Zack Snyder and his wife wanted for the action to be as real and as intense as if were in a real life and death struggle. He's still has the Whedon cinematic version albeit not so good but watchable to some people. A lot of people who liked the film's direction enjoyed it while others didn't To those who like the hardcore stuff that's fine for you to enjoy and bask in it's splendor. However, do not complain to others who don't by believing that the whole DC movie Universe should just be to a mature audience and not a family friendly atmosphere then that shows a very selfish narrow minded view of our society. Warner made it clear when they put this on HBO MAX that Zack Snyder set out what he wanted with his 3 films. True there's teasers at the end but that was part of his plan if his vision moved forward. The PG-13 version of Justice League that families and cinematic audiences seen in 2017  is the one we got and is part of the mainstream DCEU universe. It couldn't have been better if not for the greed of the former CEO of Warner Bros wanting the film to be out without taking the time for the story and special effects to be expectable. All he wanted was a big paycheck and didn't care about  the consumers in short us....the fans. Now Zack Snyder is done with DC and we need to let him go to do his own thing and give thanks for all he's done with Man Of Steel, Batman V Superman ,and of course his Justice League. If he wants to come back and if the studio wants him then he'll perhaps he'll return . Meanwhile we have Flashpoint that will change and rectify all that happened in DCEU movie continuity.  Aquaman 2, Shazam War Of The Gods and Wonder Woman 3 in which I hope to see Cheetah's return with my hopes that Henry Cavill as Superman will also be in the movie. The hardcore fans have James Gunn The Suicide Squad to look forward to. Other characters like The New Gods, Zatanna  Green Lantern and don't forget Black Adam with Dwayne The Rock Johnson is coming. Not all the properties are going to be the way we want like Wonder Woman 2 and Harley Quinn was but still  I hope that the WB execs and Walter Hamada can gets themselves into a positive direction and we as fans can get excited of what we have and what is to come. Hopefully with another Superman Henry Cavill film on the horizon. I feel that we will have another PG-13 Justice League film coming in a few years.
